Coimbatore: A complaint has been lodged in the West Zone Police Headquarters at Race Course, Coimbatore on Tuesday seeking a ban on the upcoming A-1 movie starring actor Santhanam.
A-1 is an upcoming movie Directed by Raj Narayanan and produced by Johnson, starting Santhanam in the lead role. The film is all set to be released worldwide on July 26 and the teaser of the film was recently released. Since then, fierce opposition erupted from Brahmin associations who claim that the script demeans their community.
The movie is said to feature a scene where a Brahmin girl proves her love by eating a half boiled egg. Brahmin communities have expressed their opposition to such scenes and demanded to remove them from the movie.
Various petitions and complaints have been filed across Tamil Nadu by Hindu Outfits and Brahmin associations seeking a ban.
Meanwhile, condemning the movie, the All India Brahmin Federation on Tuesday lodged a complaint to Periaiah, Inspector General (IG) of the West Zone, Coimbatore accusing that the film will instigate caste riots.
The petitioners urged action against actor Santhanam, producer Johnson and movie crew members. The petitioners also claimed to stage a worldwide protest, if the movie crew members are not subjected to action.
